Motivational Story - Bruce Springsteen

Greetings! For this piece, I want to let music serve as your source for inspiration. I also strongly encourage you to take a few minutes to watch a specific YouTube video clip for me. It is of Bruce Springsteen taken from a 2009 concert show in London, England, where Bruce drew an outdoor audience of around 100,000 people all by himself!

What you will see is a performance by a (then) 60-year old musician who played for nearly FOUR HOURS!  There were no intermission breaks. Every song seems like a marathon performance where he pours out every ounce of his HEART, SOUL, EMOTION and ENERGY!

A Springsteen concert is equal to that of an entire football or baseball game but in this man’s line of work, Bruce takes every single snap or at bat, is on the field for the entire offense & defensive plays and is the stadium announcer too! There are no substitutions for this man when he plays!

Know that back in the 1980’s, I was working with the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League.  Our owner of the team ordered every one of his players to see Springsteen in concert so they could see his never ending energy up close and realize how easy they all had it playing the game of hockey in shifts.

Here is a link to watch Springsteen in action as he performs "American Land" as the close-out song from a 2009 marathon concert at Hyde Park in London before a crowd of 75-90,000 people!  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yxF_VnjF3xw

May this type of performance inspire you to play with extra effort and to reach for that extra burst of energy that you didn’t think existed throughout a season! Most importantly, when the game begins, you, too, be ready to clock in and give it everything you’ve got!

(Remember the person you are watching perform is 60-years old!)
