Motivational Story - Star Trek--The Next Generation ("You Can Never Fear Failure")

Image
Greetings! I've been a big fan of the Star Trek–The Next Generation TV Show and catching them again in syndication. There was this one particular scene that I want to make my FOCUS for You this week!  It was about two of the show's main characters - “Lieutenant Commander Data” and “Chief Engineer Geordi LaForge” when they ventured into the ship’s holodeck to reenact the fictional character Sherlock Holmes from the late 19th & early 20th centuries. Data, an android on the show, frustrated LaForge because his positronic brain allowed him to compute things ahead so that he kept figuring out the story’s outcome within seconds. The characters got into a big discussion in which Laforge complained to Data that the fun is in the attempt to solve the mystery, not skipping to the end. Here came Dr. Pulaski , the ship's Chief Medical Officer, who overheard their discussion and tries to counsel Data by saying: “TO FEEL THE REAL THRILL OF VICTORY, THERE HAS TO BE THE POSSIBILITY ...

Motivational Story - Enjoy the Process

Image
Greetings! For this week, I want to leave you with two important thoughts below: One is to re-emphasize the importance that each step along your journey will always be about the "Process!"  Every Hall of Famer that walked your path before you had to Start at the Very Beginning to make their Dreams come True.  The second is choosing your network of contacts wisely and do not allow anyone to play games with your Mindset!  THOUGHT #1 - Everyone wants to live at the top of the mountain, but all the Happiness and Growth you need to experience occurs while you’re climbing it! THOUGHT #2 - One of the keys to Happiness is to surround yourself with people that reflect who you want to be and how you want to feel. Energy is truly contagious whereas there are relationships that c an be toxic and suck the energy right out of you! Jim Loria

Motivational Story - Bruce Springsteen

Greetings! For this piece, I want to let music serve as your source for inspiration. I also strongly encourage you to take a few minutes to watch a specific YouTube video clip for me. It is of  Bruce Springsteen  taken from a 2009 concert show in London, England, where Bruce drew an outdoor audience of around 100,000 people all by himself!  What you will see is a performance by a (then) 60-year old musician who played for nearly FOUR HOURS!  There were no intermission breaks. Every song seems like a marathon performance where he pours out every ounce of his HEART, SOUL, EMOTION and ENERGY!  A Springsteen concert is equal to that of an entire football or baseball game but in this man’s line of work, Bruce takes every single snap or at bat, is on the field for the entire offense & defensive plays and is the stadium announcer too! There are no substitutions for this man when he plays! Know that back in the 1980’s, I was working with the Washington Capitals of ...
